Imagine a city that’s actually a vast solar energy harvesting system. A team of Michigan State University researchers has developed a technology that can turn transparent surfaces, from building windows to cell phones, into solar collecting surfaces – without obstructing the view.
Transparent Solar Panels | Michigan State University

I got this idea 6years later while iam in toilet
6 years later. I can't buy anything like this yet.
how do you retrofit the inside of the building? He didnt even talk abt it!!!
Amazing invention
But how efficient is it? If it's not efficient enough, it's not worth doing.
"What about Mars house on Mars."
@Spacex 🤔😎
all i can focus on is that bugger in his nose…
anyone please tell how would i buy a sample of this transparent panel
solar energy, it free energy harvest from sun. and now to use it, we have to buy things equip wuth solar panel, so why we call it free?? we have to pay it right??
I love use Avasva Solutions for that issue.
What's the efficiency of this panel?
LAMINATE MY ROOF PLEASE!
What if we can laminate our mobiles with this solar panals & what if they can generate power to charge by itself !
Its mid 2021 now and we haven't seen it in production yet
When can I get my solar glass powered yacht 🤑
I found the concentrator they need to hit the glass with. Hahaha https://youtu.be/HwnAqzhFLlo
Why no one is making a big deal about this? It could help so many industries, lower polution…
これマジで凄いな!?
Imagine all electric car glass made of photovoltaic glass
This transparent solar is expensive than regular solar penal??
Watching In 2021
put mirror behind
This has been around since the 70s, not their invention. First saw it on BBC Tomorrow's World back in the late 70s.
Now the credit is given to another person
How do I contact to that person?
2021 and still waiting 😃
now all we need is to make them flexible
💥🕊️🌱🐝☕
This is the best technology for greenhouse to produce electricity and grow food.
Go Green!
Yes Elon Musk could use this on his cars , Starship, and Mars. Jeff Bezos could use this on his O'Neil spheres.
I was talking a shit and this idea came in my head I want to know what happened to it. It would be sweet if you could get in contact with Elon musk and his solar city project
plants(flowers, trees) indoor will die; bacteria and virus in office will be more; in winter the room will be cold, if it absorb to much UV and IR.
I wish I could get a scholarship into a program like this
Does anyone know if this guy is still alive?
That sounds completely delusional. Super inefficient and expensive. Power an entire building? what are they thinking? It's like the solar roads again… finding inefficient ways to generate solar power, when you can just put regular solar panels on so many places where it wouldn't look bad, and it would be many times more efficient.
Clearly useless if you don't tell us the price or power per square meter.
You said they absorb uv rays so does that mean that they would lower the risk of sunburn therefore lowering risk of skin cancer?
